Hello, All!
Randy Wruble-USCG Licensed
I was born and raised in an Army family with a father who is passionate about saltwater fishing. I was very fortunate to grow up fishing the diverse waters of the Chesapeake Bay, Panama’s Pacific coast, Alabama and Florida’s lakes/coasts. When I moved to Texas in 1983, I spent all of my free time surfing if the waves were up and fishing if the surf was flat. Over the years, I have fine-tuned my technical skills and developed both an intuitive sense for finding the fish and a body of knowledge about the topographies of the Coastal Bend.
For the 30 plus years I’ve lived in Corpus Christi, Texas, I’ve had a passion for fishing this beautiful and diverse area but when I picked up a fly rod in 2011, it rapidly changed from a passion to an obsession! I have spent countless hours wading and poling the shorelines of the Laguna Madre and I have come to deeply appreciate the remarkable Coastal Bend and I’m grateful I get to call it home. My love and passion for fly-fishing grows with every experience and I would love the opportunity to share it with you!
WHAT TO BRING
Required
Valid Texas Parks & Wildlife fishing license with saltwater stamp

Fly rods & leaders (optional) – A 9’ 8wt with floating line is standard for South Texas conditions
6wt–7wt rods work well on calmer days for lighter presentations
9’+ leaders recommended (tapered or custom tied)
Guest rods and gear are available if needed.
Clothing & Sun Protection
Lightweight long-sleeve shirt, pants, and sun protection
Buff or hood for sun and wind
Polarized sunglasses (essential for sight fishing)
Hat with dark under-brim
Comfortable shoes or booties
Recommended Extras
Stripping basket (optional)
Sun gloves & finger guard

Rain jacket or light layer (seasonal)
Catch & Release Policy
We practice catch, photograph, and release (CPR) for most fish to protect the fishery. Limited harvest of species like black drum is allowed within regulations, but conservation comes first.
If you like to tie your own flies, get creative! If you don’t tie, I have a fully stocked box so don’t drop a lot of $$ on shop-purchased flies.
I supply water and lunch. You can bring any snacks or beverages you prefer, but no Bananas!
“If we don’t leave any, there won’t be any.” -Billy Sandifer
